These terms apply whenever you book a classroom or on-site course with Vital Signs First. They’re written to be fair and easy to follow. If anything isn’t clear, please ask before you book.

Making a booking

Once we’ve agreed the course, date, venue and price, we’ll confirm everything by email. Your booking is confirmed when we send that email, and these terms apply from then on. If anything in the confirmation is wrong, let us know straight away.

Our courses take up to 12 learners. Please tell us if numbers change so we can make sure the course runs properly and meets the required standards.

Prices and payment

All our prices are fixed, with no VAT added, as we are not VAT registered. The price we confirm is the price you pay.

We accept BACS transfer, major debit and credit cards, and PayPal.

If you need to cancel or move your course

We know plans change. Please let us know in writing (email is fine) as soon as you can.

If a learner can’t attend, you’re welcome to send someone else in their place at no extra charge. Just let us know their name beforehand.

Your right to cancel if you’re booking as an individual

If you book as a private individual rather than for a business, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of booking and get a full refund. If you ask us to run your course within those 14 days and then cancel after it’s started, we may charge for the part already delivered. Once the 14 days are up, the cancellation terms above apply.

If we need to cancel

Very occasionally we may have to cancel or move a course, for example because of instructor illness or severe weather. If that happens we’ll tell you as soon as possible and offer you a new date or a full refund, whichever you prefer. We can’t cover any other costs, such as travel or staff time.

Training at your premises

If we’re training at your workplace, please provide:

If the room isn’t suitable on the day, we may not be able to run the course, and the cancellation terms above will apply.

Attendance, assessment and certificates

First aid qualifications require learners to attend the whole course. Anyone who arrives late or misses part of the course may not be able to complete it, and may need to rebook.

Learners are assessed throughout the course. Certificates are issued through ProTrainings to everyone who completes the course and passes the assessment, once payment has been received. If a learner doesn’t pass, we’ll explain why and talk through the options, which may include rebooking.

Health and taking part

Our courses include practical work, such as kneeling on the floor to give CPR. If a learner has a medical condition, injury or pregnancy that might affect this, please tell us before the course so we can make reasonable adjustments. We’ll treat that information in line with our Privacy Policy.

We may ask a learner to leave if their behaviour puts others at risk or disrupts the course, or if they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In that case no refund will be due.

Online courses

Our online courses are sold and delivered directly by ProTrainings. If you buy one, you’re buying from ProTrainings and their terms and conditions apply, not these.

Our responsibility to you

We’ll deliver every course with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong because of something we’ve done, our liability is limited to the price of the course. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that can’t legally be limited. If you’re booking as an individual, these terms don’t affect your statutory rights.

Complaints

If you’re not happy with anything, please tell us at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to put it right. If your complaint is about an assessment or certificate, we can also refer you to the ProTrainings appeals process.

The legal bit

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
